Where do I check for active resources I no longer need in AWS?
Asked 3 years ago
I received a bill from Amazon Web Services last month, but I’m having trouble figuring out what some of the charges were for. I want to prevent any future charges that I may incur for active resources that I no longer have use for. Can someone explain where I can check for active resources so I can terminate the ones I don’t need?

Follow these 5 simple steps to view your active but not-so-wanted resources in AWS and avoid the unnecessary future charges:
- Open the "AWS Billing and Cost Management console."
- Choose "Bills" in the navigation pane. You can check for the details, which will show you all active resources.
- In consolidated billing, the "Consolidated Bill Details" tab and "Bill Details By Account" will show you the activity for each account in the organization.
- You can expand the "Details" section to identify the Regions that are incurring charges.
- If needed, terminate the resources for those Regions.
And voila! You have successfully subsided the extra charges on your active but unwanted AWS resources.
